The band’s sound spans genres, ranging from quiet and intricate to loud and direct, paying attention to clever song writing and innovative use of technology.
Their self produced music has garnered much critical acclaim, including rave reviews and a Choice Music Award nomination for their debut album 'Unexpected Falls'.

Totally Dublin Review - Unexpected Falls
This album should come with a sticker warning the listener to beware of becoming entranced by the electro-fuelled indie rock that binds the ten tracks together. It is the kind of record that you don't think will grab you, but it certainly will. Be prepared to fall under its spell, play it more times than any new record you buy and allow it to dictate and change your mood after hearing one track from it.
When done right, electronic music has the ability to stop any music fan dead in their tracks. This eager hack would be quick to throw up his hands in confession of not loving all forms of electronic music, but there are a few odd exceptions and Alias Empire are one of those.
Hailing from Dublin, this talented four-piece have taken their time to release a debut album after their impressive 2004 Nothing Stays In Place EP. There were even rumours that they had hit the musicians equivalent of writer's block, but all of that pot gossip was dismissed by any one who knew just how serious they were about making music. They knew exactly how long was needed to capture their sound and make the type of debut album that they were capable of producing.
Lead single Attention is a perfect example of Alias Empire on their best form. It has various instruments stuttering and staggering around a jittery vocal, while a steady drum beat and collective backing shouts build up a tempo nicely. Add some synths and Mellotron, and you have a track that is buzzing with excitement from start to finish. The band members (Phil Porter, Derek Cosgrave, Kevin Littlewood and Stuart Flood) all know what roles to take up and contribute as a solid working unit.
Of course, a number of influences are evident from Kraftwerk right through to Mogwaii. But none of the ten tracks ever feel like they are regurgitating sounds that have gone before. It is all fresh sounding, unique and extremely entertaining. Skip through any of the tracks here and you will discover a tune that is well thought out and brilliantly executed.
NME
Alias Empire: indie/electronic madness. Their live set comes accompanied by wonderful visuals. If that doesn’t get you moving you’ve either got no soul or no feet.
AU Magazine – The Hot 40
Gloriously fusing electronic and live instruments, Alias Empire are a band that combines a traditional approach to song writing with the fluidity and freedom of a dance based ethos. The real joy is in seeing the band live, where the set builds and breaks, taking it deep into the realm of sublime and glitchy beats and then elevating it into a powerful crescendo. Think Nine Inch Nails being hammered into Boards of Canada and you’ll be half way to understanding this Dublin outfit.
